All students in years 1-6 at Tyabb Railway Station Primary School are learning about, The Language and Culture of Indonesia.

Each week children participate in sessions with a qualified, Languages – Indonesian teacher and are given the opportunity to obtain knowledge and understandings about one of our closest Asian neighbours.

Students cover a range of language based topics, such as, Greetings, Numbers and Colours as well as cultural topics like Shadow Puppets, Rice is Life and Music. Students learn through participation in songs, role play, verbal and written activities and online computer programs.

Learning about the language and culture of another country not only helps students broaden their horizons but also gives them a greater appreciation and understanding of their own country and its way of life.
